Mumbai: In a move aimed at enhancing public safety and strengthening law enforcement, Minister of State for Home Affairs Yogesh Kadam chaired an important meeting on Wednesday at the Sahyadri Guest House, Mumbai, to bring uniformity and coordination in the installation and maintenance of CCTV cameras across Maharashtra.

Although various government departments have been independently installing CCTV cameras across the state, the specific requirements and standards of the Home Department were not being considered during the process. Going forward, all departments installing CCTV systems will be required to comply with the Home Department’s technical and operational guidelines.

“CCTV surveillance is a powerful and effective tool in maintaining law and order and plays a vital role in solving crimes. To improve the efficiency of this system and ensure consistent maintenance and repair protocols, it is necessary to implement a uniform policy,” said Minister Kadam during the meeting.

In this context, and with the approval of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, a high-level committee will soon be formed to develop and implement this streamlined CCTV policy.

The meeting was attended by MLA Siddharth Shirole, Principal Secretary (Law and Order) Anup Kumar Singh, Director of Information Technology Anil Bhandari, Assistant Inspector General of Police (Planning and Coordination) Prakash Jadhav, Deputy Commissioner of Police Akbar Pathan, along with senior officials from the Home Department, Urban Development Department, and municipal corporations.
