Mumbai: In a bid to promote respiratory wellness, Gleneagles Hospital Mumbai launched its city-wide awareness initiative ‘Mask Up Mumbai’ from Phoenix Marketcity in Kurla. This unique campaign features large symbolic mask sculptures, serving as a powerful reminder of the importance of clean air and proactive lung care in today's urban environment.
With rapid urban development and evolving lifestyles, Mumbai has seen a steady increase in environmental and indoor elements that may impact respiratory health. The campaign aims to take health education beyond clinical settings. The mask installations at Phoenix Mall offer an eye-catching metaphor for protection, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding one’s lungs and promoting early prevention.
Dr. Sameer Garde, director of pulmonology at Gleneagles Hospital, said, “Asthma is no longer just a seasonal or childhood issue. It's becoming a chronic health concern, especially in metropolitan cities like Mumbai, where environmental conditions can affect breathing quality. Through ‘Mask Up Mumbai,’ we aim to raise awareness about the importance of wearing masks in high-risk areas and encourage timely consultation for respiratory symptoms.”
Dr. Bipin Chevale, CEO of Gleneagles Hospital, said, “At Gleneagles Hospital, our mission is not only to treat but to prevent illness through education and community engagement. With ‘Mask Up Mumbai,’ we are bringing attention to asthma and pollution-related lung conditions in an innovative and public-focused way. We want every Mumbaikar to prioritize their respiratory health, one conscious step at a time.”
Mayank Lalpuria, senior vice president of Marketing (West & North) of The Phoenix Mills Limited, said, “We are proud to support 'Mask Up Mumbai’.
