A potential fire disaster was narrowly averted at Churchgate Station on Thursday morning, thanks to the presence of mind and swift response of M.S. Joshi, Train Manager, Churchgate Lobby.

About The Incident

The incident occurred when a short circuit broke out at an ice-cream stall located within the station premises. The situation could have quickly escalated, endangering lives and property in the busy railway hub. However, Joshi, who was present at the scene, noticed the electrical sparks and acted without hesitation.

"Smoke emitted due to overheating of exhaust fan at 8.10  am and fire extinguisher was used by railway staff and situation controlled within 3 min" said an spokesperson of WR.

According to an official, displaying commendable courage and presence of mind, Joshi rushed to the spot, retrieved a fire extinguisher, and successfully doused the flames before they could spread further. His prompt action ensured that the fire was contained, averting what could have been a serious mishap.

The Railway Administration has lauded M.S. Joshi’s exemplary act, praising his alertness, dedication, and sense of responsibility. In an official statement, the administration commended him for his courage and timely intervention, which played a crucial role in preventing a potentially dangerous incident.
