Mumbai: To preserve trees' health in Mumbai, the BMC's Garden department started an specifical campaign from April 15, where nails, posters and power cables hung on trees' trunks will be removed. While, trees roots covered with garbage or cement due to ongoing extension road works, will be deconcretised.

In the first three days of the campaign, the civic staff removed nails weighing as much as 15 kgs, highlighting the severity of the problem. Despite repeated warnings by the BMC, citizens hung items of trunks of full grown trees, damaging it's health.
In the three days of campaign, the BMC's Garden department staff taking of NGO's removed nails/posters/cables from 1673 trees. The total number of posters removed were 452. While, 330 trees were deconcretised.

The special campaign called 'Vruksha Sanjeevani Abhiyan' was started from April 15 and run upto April 30. Total 150 volunteers have participated in the campaign so far. This is second such campaign. First campaign was held in 2022.
