Mumbai: The BMC has intensified its crackdown on unauthorised constructions in the Madh area built using fabricated maps. On Tuesday, around 14 illegal structures in the Erangal and Valnai areas, under the jurisdiction of P-North Ward (Malad), were demolished. Among the structures razed was the shooting set of the Marathi serial Tuzi Majhi Jamli Jodi, which had been erected by forging maps.
In January this year, it was revealed that 101 unauthorised constructions had come up in the Madh area over the past year using fabricated maps. The BMC has set a target to demolish all of them by the end of May. In the past two weeks alone, the civic team has razed around 24 such structures in the Versova and Madh areas.
On Tuesday, 14 more structures were demolished, including three in the Erangal area measuring 1,900, 1,700, and 650 sq ft, and 11 in Valnai village, each ranging between 200 and 300 sq ft.
The demolition was carried out using three JCBs and other machinery, in the presence of 10 civic officials and staff, along with adequate police security. Last week the BMC had demolished one bungalow and nine unauthorised constructions in the Erangal and Valnai areas in Madh.
