Mumbai News: 33-Year-Old Diamond Trader Booked For Fraudulent Gem Theft Worth ₹52.33 Lakh

The BKC police have booked a diamond trader for allegedly fraudulently taking away gems worth Rs 52.33 lakh from a company involved in the same business. According to the FIR, Hemang Soni, 33, previously worked at Laxmi Diamond Pvt Ltd located in Bharat Diamond Bourse.

Mumbai: The BKC police have booked a diamond trader for allegedly fraudulently taking away gems worth Rs 52.33 lakh from a company involved in the same business.

According to the FIR, Hemang Soni, 33, previously worked at Laxmi Diamond Pvt Ltd located in Bharat Diamond Bourse. Three years ago, he left the job and started his own company, said the complainant.

Nishant Patel, 41, who works as sales manager at Laxmi Diamond. In October 2024, Soni took diamonds worth Rs 24.22 lakh on the pretext of selling them, said Patel, adding that a few days later, he again took gems worth Rs 28.11 lakh. Later, he went incommunicado, said the FIR.
