Mumbai: The much-anticipated Phase 2 of Mumbai Metro Line 3 is nearing the finish line, with the 9.8-kilometre underground stretch from Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) to Worli (Acharya Atre Chowk) almost ready for public use.

Currently, the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) is conducting inspections of the corridor — a crucial step before operations can officially commence. Sources indicate that the inspection process is progressing smoothly, paving the way for a potential public launch in the coming days. However there is no official announcement on the starting date of operations for the second phase yet.

This segment forms a significant part of the 33.5-km fully underground Metro Line 3, also known as the Colaba–Bandra–SEEPZ line. Once operational, the new stretch is expected to drastically cut commute times between key business and residential hubs in South-Central Mumbai.

Metro Line 3 is one of Mumbai’s most ambitious infrastructure projects and is set to play a vital role in easing congestion on the city's roads and local train networks. The first phase, covering SEEPZ to BKC, is already operational, with daily ridership steadily increasing.
