The Mumbai Metro line 2A&7 between Dhanukarwadi and Aarey ( Phase 1) is to be open to the public from Saturday 8 pm onwards. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray along with other Ministers of the Mahavikas Aghadi government to flag off the new metro line for citizens on Gudi Padwa at 4 pm from Aarey station.

The minimum fare for travelling in new metro lines 2A and 7 is Rs 10 for 3-kilometres and the maximum fare is Rs 40. Based on the kilometres the metro route covers, the fare structure is decided. Metro line 2A is 18 km and it has 17 stations. Whereas metro line 7 is 16 km long and has 13 stations.

At a time gap of 11 minutes, metro trains will be operated on this route; Aarey and Dhanumarwadi between 6 am to 10 pm. The Make in India metro trains is also equipped with a driverless system. However these trains will be operated by drivers said SVR Srinivas, MMRDA Commissioner further adding that the trains will be running at a speed of 70km/hr. There are nearly 60 drivers both male-female to operate the metro trains.

The Mumbai Metro line 2A &7 was sanctioned by the GoM in October 2015.

The Bhoomipujan was performed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Devendra Fadnavis-led BJP-Shiv Sena alliance government in October 2015. Thereafter the first ever trial run on 20km stretch held in May 2021 by CM Uddhav Thackeray led Mahavikas Aghadi government. It took six years for MMRDA to partially begin these two metro lines. The expected timeline to begin the entire corridor of Line 2A&7 is August 15, 2022.
