Mumbai: Man practicing for upcoming marathon dies while jogging at Marine Drive, police begins probe

A case of accidental death was registered in the case and further investigation is underway.

Mumbai: A 59-year-old man allegedly died of a heart attack while jogging at Marine Drive, the police said on Monday. The deceased, Rajendra Ramkrishna Bhise, was a resident of Seawoods in Navi Mumbai.

He had come to Marine Drive to practice for an upcoming marathon, confirmed Senior Police Inspector Vishwanath Kolekar.

Bhise had recently retired from his government post at Mantralaya. He was known to have led an active lifestyle and enjoyed running marathons. After collapsing, he was rushed to Saifee Hospital but was declared dead before arrival by the hospital authorities.

The preliminary cause of death, according to thepolice, was heart attack. The family told the police he had blood pressure-related issues. The body was sent to GT Hospital for post-mortem before being handed over to his family members.

A case of accidental death was registered in the case and further investigation is underway.
