A minor fire broke out on Monday at the seventh floor of a 19-storey residential building located on the M A Road in Sion Koliwada. No injuries were reported as nobody was inside the flat at the time of mishap. The firefighters had to lug their equipment to the response site as the building's internal firefighting system was out of order.

According to the Fire Brigade, an alert was received at around 12.30pm about a blaze that had erupted at the Om Shiv Shakti housing society. Four fire engines and a water tanker were pressed into the service. Being a level-1 fire, the flames were doused in an hour.

“As the fire was on the seventh floor, it was within our reach. The blaze was confined just to the flat which was locked from outside. The cotton mattress and pillows were up in flames hence leading to thick smoke,” said the senior fire official who was present on the spot.
