Mumbai: In a major crackdown on rising cyber fraud, the Mumbai Cyber Cell has busted a fake loan scam call center operating out of Delhi. The operation led to the arrest of three suspects — Shehzad Lal Mohammad Khan alias Rehman (30), Anuj Uttam Singh Rawat alias Anil Kumar Yadav (30), and Mohammad Amir Hussain (34), all residents of Delhi.
According to Mumbai Cyber officials, the accused were running a fraudulent call center offering fake zero-interest loans. Posing as representatives of Bajaj Finance and YES Bank, they duped unsuspecting victims by forging electronic documents bearing bank logos and seals.
The investigation was triggered by a complaint from a 70-year-old Mumbai-based senior citizen. The complainant alleged that between October 28, 2023, and September 2, 2024, he was conned out of a staggering ₹1.14 crore under the pretext of processing a loan.
Acting on the complaint, the Cyber Cell team traced the fraudulent activity to Anand Vihar, Delhi. A two-day raid was conducted at the fake call center, registered under the name Maximizer Marketing (OPC) Pvt. Ltd. During the raid, police seized 105 mobile phones and one laptop, along with several forged documents.

Preliminary analysis revealed that the seized phones were linked to 132 cybercrime cases across India, all of which had been reported on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.
The accused confessed during interrogation that they had been operating the racket under the guise of providing loans from Bajaj Finance and had duped victims from across the country. Officials from the South Region Cyber Police Station stated that further investigation is underway to identify more victims and potential accomplices.
