Mumbai: In a disturbing pattern, six women across Mumbai, Thane, and Navi Mumbai have been arrested in the past four months for allegedly murdering their husbands with the help of their lovers. All the cases point to extramarital affairs as the motive behind the brutal killings.

Antop Hill, Mumbai – Man Killed by Wife and Her Lover

The latest case was reported on Monday from Antop Hill, where 37-year-old Ismail Ali Shaikh was allegedly murdered by his wife Sumaiyya (27) and her lover Saklain Gholam Kibriya Shaikh (28). Ismail and Sumaiyya lived in a chawl in Rajiv Gandhi Nagar. According to police, Sumaiyya and Saklain, who lived near Mira Datar Dargah in Reay Road, conspired to eliminate Ismail, who was an obstacle in their relationship. On Sunday night, the duo killed Ismail using a sharp weapon. After the murder, Sumaiyya dumped the body on the street, pretending that unknown persons had killed her husband. However, the police investigation revealed the conspiracy, and both were arrested by Antop Hill Police.

Rabale MIDC, Navi Mumbai – Drunk and Dumped in Drain

On May 16, in Rabale MIDC, Poonam Kalidas Waghmare (28) and her lover Suresh Hariprasad Yadav (24) allegedly murdered her alcoholic husband, Kalidas Waghmare (30), by making him drink heavily and then dumping his body in a drain. Navi Mumbai Police arrested the duo, although the victim’s body is still missing.

Goregaon, Mumbai – Murder for Marriage

On March 20, Ranju Chauhan (28), a Goregaon resident, killed her husband Chandrashekhar Chauhan (36) with the help of her boyfriend Shahrukh and his three friends. Ranju reportedly wanted to marry her lover. All four accused were arrested by the police.

Malvani, Malad – Friend Becomes Killer

On February 11, Rajesh Chauhan (30), a daily wage worker, was murdered by his wife Pooja (28) and his friend Imran Mansuri (26). Imran, who had been staying at Rajesh’s house for three months, started an affair with Pooja. After Rajesh confronted them, the duo conspired and murdered him, later dumping his body in the mangroves. Both were arrested by Malvani Police.

Ulwe, Navi Mumbai – Ex-Policeman Aids in Murder

On February 22, Sachin More was allegedly murdered by his wife and her lover, a former policeman, in Ulwe. The body was thrown off a bridge near Vawhal village. Both accused were taken into custody by Ulwe Police.

Waliv, Vasai – ₹50,000 Contract Killing

On January 27, a partially decomposed male body was found near the mangroves close to Naigaon Railway Station. The deceased was identified as Usman Ansari, a Goregaon East resident. Police investigations revealed that his wife Meena Ansari had paid neighbors ₹50,000 to kill him. It is suspected that she had an affair with a man named Bilal, who may have been involved in the conspiracy.
