Mumbai: The Bhandup Police have registered a case against an Instagram user for posting objectionable comments on a video depicting to house collapses in the hilly areas of Khindipada, Khadan, in Bhandup West. The user, identified by the handle "nickcrok81," is accused of making remarks that could incite communal disharmony.

Local Resident Files Police Complaint

According to the FIR, the complainant, Syed Mohammed Liaqat Ali,25, a store in-charge at Zepto in Andheri, resides with his family on Dargah Road, Khindipada, Bhandup West. On July 28, while Browse Instagram, Ali came across a video detailing the collapse of houses in the hilly region of Khadan, Khindipada, which occurred on July 21.

Incident Linked to July 21 House Collapse

The video featured a Muslim woman expressing concern and advising local residents to take precautions. Below this video, Ali noticed that the user "nickcrok81" had posted comments that were deemed highly objectionable and derogatory towards the Muslim community.

Case Registered Under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita

Ali lodged a complaint at the Bhandup Police Station, stating that these comments had the potential to incite animosity between two communities, disrupt social harmony, and disturb public peace. Following the complaint, the police have registered a case under Sections 196(1) and 299 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act.
