Mumbai: A 43-year-old gold trader from Lalbaug, Amit Jain, has been duped of gold worth ₹3.75 crore by his trusted employee, Akash Parasmal Jain. The Kalachowki Police have registered a case against the absconding accused under Sections 316(4), 318(2), 336(3), 338, 340(1), and 340(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
According to police, Akash Jain had been working for the complainant, Amit Jain, for the past four years and had gained his full trust. Using this trust, Akash took 4,382.240 grams of 22-carat gold jewellery from Amit under the pretext of selling it to designated jewellers mentioned in a note provided by the complainant.
However, instead of selling the gold, Akash allegedly used it for his personal financial benefit. He also created forged receipts bills claiming the gold had been sold and handed them to Amit, thereby deceiving him.

Realizing the fraud, Amit lodged a complaint. Police investigations revealed that Akash had absconded with the gold, valued at approximately ₹3.75 crore, and is currently untraceable. When police visited Akash’s residence in Love Lane, Byculla, his family claimed that he had gone to Tirupati with his father for pilgrimage.
