Mumbai: In a shocking incident on Sunday night in Trombay’s Cheeta Camp area, two minors allegedly stabbed a 45-year-old man in retaliation for being named as suspects in a year-old theft case. The attack, caught on CCTV and now viral on social media, has led to both juveniles being detained and sent to a children's remand home.
According to the FIR, the complainant, 70-year-old Noor Mohammad Shah, an oil trader residing in the Cheeta Camp, filed a complaint after a theft at his home on June 12, 2023. He had named the two minors as suspects, which reportedly triggered a grudge. Since then, the boys had been threatening Shah and his family.
On June 1, while Shah’s son Mohammad Ibrahim was at a nearby tailor shop, the two minors attacked him with knives and fled the scene. Ibrahim was critically injured and rushed to Shatabdi Hospital in Govandi before being transferred to Sion Hospital for advanced treatment. His condition remains critical.
Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bhartiy Nyay Sanhita (BNS) Act including attempted murder, and further investigation is underway.
