Mumbai: In two separate operations, the Mumbai Airport Customs seized 3 kg of gold worth Rs2.78 crore, which was allegedly being smuggled by an airline staffer, and drugs valued at around Rs1 crore.
According to the Customs sources, acting on specific inputs, the officers intercepted the staffer on Thursday. The 24 kt gold was found concealed inside the innerwear worn with a specially-designed belt, said a Customs officer. The gold dust in wax form was further hidden in six capsule-shaped pieces, he added.
In another case, a passenger, who had arrived from Bangkok, was intercepted and green-coloured substance in lump form, apparently hydroponic weed (Marijuana), was recovered from the traveller.

The contraband, weighing 947 grams, was concealed in vacuum sealed plastic packets, which were kept inside a trolley bag.
