Mumbai: A day of leisure turned tragic on Wednesday evening when an eight-year-old boy, Dikshant Harijan, drowned while playing in a swimming pool at a resort in Arnala. The incident occurred at Dreamland Resort in Virar, where the child had gone with his family and friends for a mid-week outing. The Arnala Marine Police registered a case of accidental death.

Dikshant Was On Family Trip When Tragedy Struck

Dikshant, a resident of Santosh Nagar in Goregaon, had accompanied his parents and several family friends to the resort for a day trip. After breakfast, the group moved to the swimming pool area to relax and enjoy the facilities. Dikshant's Father Noticed He Was Unresponsive, Rushed Him To Hospital

According to a Hindustan Times report quoting police officials, Dikshant began to drown quietly and was not immediately noticed by the adults around him. It was only when his father, Venkatesh Harijan, saw that he was unresponsive that he rushed to his aid. The boy was pulled out of the pool and taken to a nearby private hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival.

'No Foul Play Or Negligence By Resort,' Say Cops

Senior Police Inspector Vijay Patil of Arnala Marine Police Station confirmed that the incident took place in full view of the family and other members of the group. “The accident happened in front of the child’s family and friends. There is no suspicion of foul play or negligence on the part of the resort,” Patil said as quoted by HT. He added that a thorough preliminary investigation had been conducted, and the circumstances pointed to a tragic accident.
