Mumbai: A 66-year-old Doctor was sentenced to three years of jail for molesting and sexually harassing a 17-year-old minor. The incident happened on March 18, 2018, when the victim was working at his stop.

The shop was owned by the doctor in Ghatkopar. As a part of the daily routine victim went to the doctor's house to take the keys to the shop. The doctor was in his storeroom, and he called the minor inside of the room, the moment she stepped inside the room. He allegedly sexually molested her in the room, as per the report by Hindustan Times, according to the prosecution.

The victim rushed home and informed her uncle about the situation. Following her statement, they approached the police and registered an FIR against the doctor at the Ghatkopar police station under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the POCSO Act.

The court examined the evidence and the CCTV camera that proved the allegations against the accused that he committed the offence of sexual assault. The prosecution examined the CCTV footage as evidence against the doctor and the court sentenced the doctor to three years in jail.

The judge stated on this incident that “I have no hesitation to come to the conclusion that the accused has outraged the modesty of the minor victim girl aged 17 years old, made physical contact and advances involving unwelcome and explicit sexual overtures,” as per the report.

In a detailed order passed on March 7, the court added that, “The incident has caused an adverse impact on the mind of the victim. No compensation can either be adequate or can be of any respite for her.”
