Mumbai: The Malvani police have arrested two people, including a woman, for allegedly murdering her husband on Saturday. The accused woman allegedly committed the crime with the help of her lover. They transported the body on a bike and disposed of it.
However, with the help of CCTV footage, the police arrested both suspects within three hours and solved the murder case. The court has remanded the accused in police custody until February 13.
According to the FIR, the deceased has been identified as Rajesh Chauhan, 30, who lived with his wife, Pooja, 28, and their two children, a 10-year-old daughter and an 8-year-old son.
The family, originally from Uttar Pradesh, belonged to the labour class. One of their fellow villagers, Imran Mansoor, aged between 25 and 30, arrived in Mumbai for work but had no place to stay. Chauhan invited him to live with his family in Malvani West.
While living with Chauhan’s family, Mansoor developed a romantic relationship with Pooja. The two decided to kill Rajesh. It is reported that they first made him drink alcohol and then slit this throat with a knife. After committing the murder, they transported the body on a bike, abandoned it in a deserted area, and later went to the police station to file a false missing person report.
Rajesh Chauhan’s wife, Pooja, and her lover, Imran Mansoori, reached Malvani police station and informed the duty officer that Rajesh was missing. They also provided his photograph to the police. Upon investigation, CCTV footage showed Rajesh riding a bike with Pooja and Imran, which raised suspicion.

When the police strictly interrogated both suspects, they confessed to the crime. The investigation revealed that the murder was committed inside the house, and the body was dumped in a deserted area to cover up the crime. The police have recovered the body, along with a blood-stained knife and clothes from the house. Shockingly, the accused killed Chauhan in front of his two children.
