It is another Mumbai shocker: a woman was raped and killed in a vacant Kurla building. The decomposed body of the 20-year-old unidentified woman was found on the terrace of a 13-storey vacant building in HDIL Colony.
The VB Nagar police in Kurla have arrested two people including a first year B.com students in the rape and murder case of a 20-year-old woman. The police said the woman was forcing the accused to get married. As he was not ready he allegedly had killed her.
The VB Nagar police in Kurla have registered a rape and murder case. The police on Thursday received a call from local residents informing them about the body on the terrace of building number 16 in the 'C' wing of the colony in Kurla west.
“On Thursday evening, a few youngsters from nearby went to the terrace to shoot a video which they wanted to post on social media. They spotted the body and informed the police,” said a police officer.The postmortem report revealed the woman was raped and murdered. Subsequently, a case was registered under relevant sections of the Indian penal code, said zone 5 DCP Pranay Ashok.
“We have circulated the picture of the woman in all the police stations and our informants are trying to identify her,'' said a police officer.
The building in question has been vacant for the past few years. ''There is no CCTV footage; nor are there any watchmen who could have given us some clue. We are checking all police stations in Mumbai and suburbs to check whether any missing complaint of a woman was registered recently,” the officer added.
Assistant commissioner of police, Kurla division, Suresh Jadhav, said several teams have been formed to identify the woman and trace the accused.
