Mumbai: A 16-year-old girl who had just completed Class 10 lost her life after reportedly falling from the eighth-floor terrace of Parichay Building in Dahisar East on Sunday. She had gone to the terrace of her residential building to take photographs and make sunset reels when the incident occurred.

About The Case

The deceased, identified as Janhavi Savla, was a student of an international school and, according to sources, was awaiting her exam results. She was the only child of the Savla couple. The Dahisar police registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) on Sunday. Preliminary investigation revealed no foul play. She was reportedly alone on the terrace at the time of the incident.

According to police, Janhavi lived on the seventh floor of Parichay Building in Mistika Nagar, Dahisar East. The incident occurred around 7 pm on Sunday evening, when the weather in Mumbai had turned pleasant. Wanting to capture the sunset and the atmosphere, Janhavi went up to the eighth-floor terrace. While clicking pictures, she reportedly slipped from the edge of the terrace and fell, resulting in her death.

Her father, Sameer Savla, 42, is a garment trader. Janhavi had gone to the terrace with her father’s permission. He was sitting on a bench on the ground floor when her body fell just a few metres away from him. With the help of neighbours, her parents rushed her injured body to Pragati Hospital in Mistika Nagar, Dahisar East, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

The investigation has not found anything suspicious so far. Police recorded statements from both her parents, who confirmed that there was no foul play involved. Police said she was alone on the terrace when the incident occurred. It is believed that she was sitting on the terrace wall and may have slipped while taking pictures.
