Navi Mumbai: Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has achieved five new records in public participation during its zero electrical accident awareness campaign, earning recognition in both the Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records. Certificates and medals were presented to the company by record adjudicator Kashmira Mayank Shah at a function in Mumbai on Monday.
The campaign, conceptualised by Chairman and Managing Director Lokesh Chandra, was held from June 1 to 6 this year as part of MSEDCL’s 20th anniversary. It featured a marathon with 11,881 participants, an online quiz with 96,150 entries, school essay and drawing contests with 7,593 students, an electrical safety rally with 27,155 participants, and a simultaneous safety pledge taken by 42,201 people. Additionally, 19.27 million registered customers received safety messages via SMS and 3.573 million via email. In total, over 211,000 people directly participated in the activities.
The Asia Book of Records, affiliated with the World Record University, verified the feats under categories including rallies, marathons, safety pledges, online quizzes, and customer outreach. The records were first entered into the India Book of Records before being confirmed at the Asian level.
“MSEDCL’s zero electrical accident awareness campaign received overwhelming public response, and its scope will be expanded,” said Director (HR) Rajendra Pawar while accepting the award. Executive Director (HR) Paresh Bhagwat outlined campaign details at the event, which was attended by senior engineers and officials.
