Ulhasnagar Municipal Commissioner Manisha Avhal held a meeting with officials on Thursday to discuss preparations for the pre-monsoon season and an upcoming cyclone advisory.
According to the civic body, various issues were reviewed to ensure readiness ahead of the monsoon.
A civic officer outlined the key points discussed in the meeting, which included:
Establishing a 24/7 Disaster Control Management Cell
Ongoing cleaning of nullahs
Solid waste management
Water supply and public sanitation
Flood mitigation measures
Inspection of dilapidated buildings
Epidemic prevention (including spraying of preventive medicines)
Road repairs
Temporary shelters for disaster victims
Preparation of flood-related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Development of a disaster management plan
Resource planning for search and rescue operations
Preliminary inspections and safety measures for landslides, unsafe bridges, flood-prone areas, and hazardous trees
Commissioner Avhal directed the officers to take all necessary preventive measures to ensure citizens' safety and to remain on high alert in case of an emergency. The Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC) also urged residents to contact authorities in the event of any emergency.
The meeting was attended by Additional Municipal Commissioner Kishore Gavas; Deputy Commissioners Dipali Chougule, Vijay Khedkar, and Anant Jawadwar; Public Relations Officer and Assistant Commissioner Ajay Sable; Assistant Municipal Commissioners Sunil Londhe, Vishal Kadam, Ganesh Shimpi, and Manish Hiware; as well as Senior Police Inspector Shankar Awtade (Central Police Station) and other officials.
