The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has launched a statewide campaign against the Maharashtra government’s directive mandating Hindi as the third compulsory language in schools. As part of this drive, MNS leaders distributed a letter from party chief Raj Thackeray to several schools in Vashi, urging them to oppose the government’s decision.
The party delegation visited prominent schools including Father Agnel, St. Mary’s, Sacred Heart, and St. Lawrence. The letter from Raj Thackeray was handed over to the school principals. It strongly objects to the government resolution enforcing the three-language formula, which makes Hindi compulsory from Class 1.
In the letter, Thackeray has categorically opposed the imposition of Hindi, questioning the state government's move to implement such a decision without consulting school managements, parents, teachers, or education experts. He appealed to all schools to resist this policy and protect the linguistic and cultural identity of Maharashtra.

According to MNS, some school principals shared their concerns during the visit, stating that introducing three languages from Class 1 would place an additional burden on young students. They also expressed surprise at the government’s unilateral decision-making process.
Gajanan Kale stated that the letter campaign will soon reach every school in the state. "We are ensuring that Raj Thackeray’s clear and firm stand reaches school authorities across Maharashtra. Imposing Hindi without dialogue or consideration is unacceptable," Kale said.
Along with Gajanan Kale, the MNS delegation included Vidyarthi Sena City President Sandesh Dongre, Mahila Sena City President Dr. Aarti Dhumal, Deputy City President Savinay Mhatre, and other senior office-bearers.
The MNS informed that the party will continue its agitation until the government withdraws the mandatory Hindi clause from its education policy.
