In yet another proactive step aimed at creating awareness on crucial safety issues and to facilitate a direct communication between the police and the public, the Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar (MBVV) police have launched their official WhatsApp channel named “MBVV Police”.
Less than three hours after its launch on the public domain by police commissioner- Madhukar Pandey, the channel received an overwhelming response from citizens, with over 5,194 followers joining till 3 pm on Sunday. The MBVV police aims to tackle growing concerns-especially related to cyber-crimes, financial frauds, anti-narcotics initiatives, drug abuse, offences against children, women and senior citizens by engaging with the public through the channel.
“Apart from broadcasting advisories and safety tips, the channel will enhance our ability to share important alerts in a timely and efficient manner.” said MBVV police chief-Madhukar Pandey while appealing citizens to take advantage of the communication tool to stay informed and connected.
In addition to WhatsApp, the content in the form of awareness videos and digital posters will be shared on other social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook and the official website of the MBVV police. The channel is also equipped with in-built privacy features to protect the profiles, phone numbers and interactions by followers.

The WhatsApp initiative is part of the 100-day transformation programme launched by chief minister-Devendra Fadnavis on 21, January.
Under the programme, a seven-point agenda has been chalked out with a focus streamlining government processes, ensuring office efficiency and improving the daily lives of citizens. The initiatives will be evaluated by the Quality Council of India (QCI).
