A joint team comprising personnel from the revenue department, Thane and Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) led by deputy civic chief- Ajay Muthe demolished an illegally constructed hotel-cum-resort which had sprung up on a government owned land in the Boscowadi area located on the Uttan-Gorai Road on Wednesday.
Already fallen prey to haphazard unauthorized development, the picturesque coastal belt in and around Uttan near Bhayandar has been witnessing a rather unusual boom in illegal construction activity. The notorious chawl mafia and fly-by-night builders have chanced upon the opportunity to denude hills and destroy greenery to facilitate unbridled and unplanned development.
