New Delhi: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that it was a matter of pride that Rekha Gupta has been elected as Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Legislative Party leader.

"This is a fortunate thing for us (matter of great pride)...Ladli Behna is going to be the CM of Delhi...", Shinde told reporters while responding to a query.

The Ladki Bahin Yojana is a scheme run by the Maharashtra government to provide financial aid to women in the state.

Uttarakhand CM also congratuled the Delhi CM elect, "Hearty congratulations and best wishes to Rekha Gupta ji on being elected the leader of the BJP Legislative Party in Delhi! I have full faith that under the guidance of respected Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, your leadership will take Delhi's progress to new heights and ensure all-round and holistic development of Delhi." After Rekha Gupta was elected as the Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Legislative Party leader, she expressed her gratitude to the party on Wednesday.

I am fully committed to this important opportunity to take Delhi to new heights." Meanwhile, celebrations started outside Gupta's residence after the declaration.

She is set to become the fourth female Chief Minister of Delhi.She was elected leader of the BJP legislative party at a meeting of newly elected BJP MLAs on Wednesday.
