Thane: A major fire broke out early Monday morning at Sonu Auto Parts and Garage, located in the Kopri Cloth Market area of Thane East. The garage, owned by Mohammad Shakeel, was engulfed in flames around 8 AM. The first alarm was raised by the resident Ritesh Jadhav.
According to a report from the Thane Municipal Corporation’s Disaster Cell, no injuries were reported in the incident. The fire caused extensive damage, including the destruction of six scrap two-wheelers, cupboards, engine oil cans, racks, and the entire electrical wiring setup, as per the Midday report.

Emergency response was swift. Fire brigade trucks, a rescue vehicle, a water tanker, and a JCB machine were dispatched to the scene, according to the report. Teams from the Disaster Management Cell, Kopri Police, MSEB, and the local fire station worked together to bring the situation under control. It took nearly an hour to extinguish the flames fully.

In a separate news story related to Thane city, a fire broke out on Monday near the skywalk next to the railway tracks at Thane railway station, causing panic among nearby commuters. Intense flames and thick plumes of smoke were spotted dangerously close to moving trains, prompting a swift response from emergency services and the fire brigade.

Videos of the incident quickly circulated online, capturing black smoke rising near the tracks even as trains continued to pass through. According to the Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC), the blaze was quickly brought under control.
Cooling operations are currently ongoing to eliminate the risk of the fire reigniting. Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries, and train services remained unaffected. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and an investigation is expected to determine the exact cause of the fire.
