Alibaug (Maharashtra): A fishing boat caught fire near the coast off Alibaug on Friday morning. As per initial reports, efforts are underway to rescue nearly 20 sailors who were on the boat when the tragedy took place.
Visuals of the fire have surfaced on the internet, showing the fishing boat completely engulfed in flames in the middle of the water. The exact reason of the fire is yet to be ascertatined. There are no reports of any casualties as of now.
According to an ABP Majha report, the fire broke out between 3 and 4 a.m. The boat is owned by Rakesh Maruti Gan from Sakhar Akshi village. While the exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, preliminary reports suggest it may have been triggered by a short circuit. With the help of locals, the boat was brought to the shore and efforts to extinguish the fire are ongoing.
The incident took place six to seven nautical miles off the coast when an electric short circuit is believed to have caused the blaze. The Coast Guard and Navy promptly arrived at the scene to assist, ensuring all crew members were rescued safely.
Fire In Salsette 27 Building In Mumbai's Byculla
In a separate incident, a fire broke out at the Salsette 27 building near New Grade Insta Mill in Byculla East on Friday morning. The fire, categorised as Level 1, prompted the Mumbai Fire Brigade to dispatch five fire engines to the site.
The Salsette 27 is a 57-story residential building, with the fire confined to the 42nd floor. Visuals of the fire have surfaced on the internet showing huge amount of smoke billowing from the blaze-affected floor. Firefighters are actively working to bring the situation under control. No injuries have been reported so far.
