The brutal murder of Santosh Deshmukh, the sarpanch of Massajog gram panchayat in Beed, and the custody death in Parbhani reverberated in the winter session of the state legislature. Congress MLA Nana Patole demanded an inquiry into the murder case, while Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, Ambadas Danve, also called for a thorough investigation.

Speaking on the matter, Nana Patole said, “Both the brutal murder of the sarpanch and the violation of the Constitution have occurred since the BJP government came into power. In Parbhani, a police custody death occurred involving an activist with an Ambedkarite ideology. These incidents are extremely serious and have caused widespread outrage among Ambedkar followers and the public in the state. The government should be ready to respond to these issues.”

Leveling serious allegations against former minister Ravindra Chavan, Patole further added, “A kidnapping incident involving a child named Vaibhav has occurred at the residence of former minister Ravindra Chavan. Vaibhav was kidnapped for a ransom of Rs9 crore, of which Rs4.5 crore has already been extorted. The remaining Rs4.5 crore is being demanded through severe torture. What kind of extortion is this? Where did so much money come from for Chavan?”

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis agreed to discuss the two incidents in the House. “The brutal murder of sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh has been taken very seriously by the government. We have sent the police inspector on forced leave and suspended a PSI. Three accused have been arrested, and even though some are still at large, they will be apprehended soon. To the opposition leaders, I assure you that action will be taken against anyone connected to the incident, regardless of their affiliations. This case has been transferred to the CID, where a Special Investigation Team (SIT) will be established to conduct an inquiry. Action will be taken against anyone involved through this investigation.”
