Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday launched the transformative ‘Pradhan Mantri Dharti Aba Janajatiya Gram Utkarsha Abhiyan’ in Palghar, marking a significant step toward empowering tribal communities through modern skill development, including training in artificial intelligence.
The launch event, described by the CM as a day of “smiles, resolve, and historic beginnings,” included the inauguration of the ‘Dharti Aaba Lok Sahbhag Abhiyan’, aimed at reaching tribal populations across 32 districts and 635 villages in Maharashtra.

CM Devendra Fadnavis also paid tribute to freedom fighter Birsa Munda, emphasising the importance of recognising and preserving the legacy of leaders. The initiative focuses on preparing tribal youth for the evolving job market by offering industry-relevant training programmes, as reported by news agency PTI.
Fifty-seven companies have partnered with the state, including the Cement Corporation of India, to provide skill development courses with a special emphasis on AI and emerging technologies. “We are going to be future-ready,” Fadnavis said. “The mentality of seeking jobs without training must change. From day one, we are training in AI and other critical skills because jobs will require them," as reported.

Other key announcements included:
Resolution of all pending Forest Rights Act cases by August 15
Enrollment of Katkari tribal children into ‘ashram’ schools to curb migration
Launch of the Maharashtra Bamboo Mission
In a major boost to local employment, Fadnavis reiterated that the upcoming mega port project in Dahanu is expected to generate 10 lakh job opportunities, with priority given to residents of the region.
The event also featured a symbolic school visit where children were welcomed with roses, uniforms, and books. State ministers Ganesh Naik (Forests) and Mangal Prabhat Lodha (Skill Development) were present at the event.
