Navi Mumbai: Raigad district is set to receive a Rs 105 crore Centre for Invention, Innovation, Incubation and Training (CIIIT) at Roha MIDC, offering advanced training in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and technical skills to local youth.

The project is a collaboration between Tata Technologies and the Maharashtra state government, with the private firm contributing Rs 89.25 crore and the remaining Rs 16 crore funded by the state and district administration.

The new CIIIT is expected to train around 3,000 youth annually, aligning their skills with industry requirements and fostering an ecosystem conducive to industrial growth in the Konkan region.

The first three years of training will be entirely funded by Tata Technologies. From the fourth year onward, costs will be equally shared between Tata Technologies and the district administration, said an official from district administration.

This will be the fourth CIIIT center approved in Maharashtra within four months, following similar centers in Beed, Nanded, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Tata Technologies approved the Roha center within four months of receiving a proposal from the Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

Officials believe the initiative will enhance employment and self-employment opportunities for youth, provide skilled manpower to local industries, and encourage startup development in the Konkan region.
