In a proactive move, several cooperative housing societies across Maharashtra have submitted their formal objections and suggestions to the state government regarding the draft rules published in the Maharashtra Government Gazette (Extraordinary Part 4B, No. 151). The initiative, spearheaded by Sahakar Bharati's Housing Cell, aims to consolidate the collective voice of housing societies across the state.

Acting on the government's request for feedback, societies have raised concerns about the clause related to the Cooperative Education and Training Fund under Draft Rule 106C-7(2). As per the draft, each cooperative housing society is required to contribute ₹10 per member per month, and federations must contribute ₹1,000 annually towards the fund.

In their recommendations, societies have proposed that these funds be directly deposited into the society’s own accounts and utilized for training programs in the same or following financial year, ensuring better accountability and effective utilization. " In the draft rules the funds are now to go to federation, which we are opposed to and have voiced our disagreement,"  said a member.

Many societies have conducted special meetings to pass resolutions supporting these objections. They have officially submitted their statements of support and proposed amendments to the Department of Cooperation, Marketing, and Textiles, Government of Maharashtra, as well as Sahakar Bharati.
