Palghar, Maharashtra: In a major push towards modernizing its power infrastructure, the Maharashtra government, alongside central authorities, is advancing the development of high-capacity power transmission lines in Palghar district. This effort is part of a broader strategy to revamp the state's power transmission and distribution systems.

District Collector Dr. Indurani Jakhar recently convened a high-level review meeting with senior officials from multiple departments, including revenue, forest, land records, agriculture, and police. Sub-divisional officers and representatives from key agencies also participated. The focus was to evaluate the ongoing projects, resolve bottlenecks, and strengthen interdepartmental coordination.

Dr. Jakhar stressed the need for swift action, instructing departments to fast-track land surveys, finalize compensation rates, and expedite Forest Rights Act (FRA) approvals. In a move to streamline the execution of these projects, she appointed Deputy Collector (Rehabilitation) Tejas Chavan as the nodal officer. Chavan will serve as the single point of contact for coordinating with both public and private sector stakeholders and addressing project-related challenges.

“Maharashtra is prioritizing the development of high-capacity transmission lines to facilitate the import of renewable energy from other states,” said Dr. Jakhar. “This is a crucial step in our commitment to clean energy, reducing carbon emissions, and making electricity more affordable for consumers.”

The initiative supports Maharashtra’s broader energy policy, which aims to scale up the use of renewable resources, combat climate change, and ensure a reliable, cost-effective power supply across the state.
