Maharashtra: In a disturbing incident of domestic violence, a 30-year-old woman was killed by her husband in Sangli district on Thursday morning after a family dispute. The accused, identified as Pintu Patil, allegedly hit his wife, Shilwanti Patil, on the head with a bamboo stick in a fit of rage. After the murder, he fled the scene with their two young children.

According to police, Pintu Patil is originally from Huljanti village in Mangalvedha taluka. He had been living in Sangli for the past few years and worked as a labourer, as reported by Maharashtra Times. He was married to Shilwanti, who was a native of Nandur in Solapur district but had settled in Hanumannagar, Sangli. The couple had two children.

At the time of the incident, construction work was ongoing at the bungalow in Rajarshi Shahunagar near Vijaynagar. Pintu and Shilwanti were staying with their children in a shed on the construction site as part of maintenance arrangements. Shilwanti was employed there as a water pump operator, while Pintu continued his work as a labourer.

According to the report, for the past few days, the couple had been frequently arguing over petty issues. Frustrated by the ongoing disputes, Shilwanti left home on June 13. In response, Pintu filed a missing person report at the Sanjaynagar police station. It was later found that Shilwanti had gone to stay with her sister near Pune. She returned home on Saturday, but the arguments between the two resumed. However, she did not notify the Sanjaynagar police that she had returned.

On June 26, Pintu killed Shilwanti by striking her on the head with a bamboo stick. Afterwards, he took both children and locked the shed from the outside before fleeing the scene. Once he escaped, Pintu confided in an acquaintance in Sangola about what had happened. This person then informed the Sanjaynagar police.

Following this, the police searched the construction site. When they removed the shed, they discovered Shilwanti Patil dead inside. Residents rushed to the location as soon as they heard the news.
