Palghar, Maharashtra: Police in Virar have filed a case against a developer for illegally constructing a five-story building in Gawad Wadi, Virar East, without obtaining the necessary permissions from the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC).
The complaint, lodged by Santosh Narayan Gholap (54), a senior clerk from Vasai West, alleges that Madhukar Ramchandra Gavad and others illegally built a ground-plus-four-storey (G+4) structure containing 25 flats at Survey No. 17, Plot No. 8, Gawad Wadi.
The construction reportedly took place between January 21, 2025, and the present date, in clear violation of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966 (Sections 52, 53, and 54).
Despite receiving multiple notices from municipal authorities to cease construction, demolish the building, and vacate the premises, the accused allegedly continued the work and allowed residents to occupy the unauthorized flats.
An FIR has been registered, and the investigation is being spearheaded by Police Inspector Prataprao Kadam of Virar Police Station, assisted by Sub-Inspector Sanjay Chavan. The illegal structure is located about 2 kilometers east of the Virar Police Station. Further legal action against the developer is anticipated.
