Thane: The Crime Branch Unit 4 of Thane Police has arrested a habitual burglar and solved eight house break-in cases reported across Badlapur and Shivaji Nagar police stations. The accused has been identified as Roshan Bala Jadhav (34), a resident of Nilje Gaon in Kalyan Phata, Dombivli.
According to police, one of the house break-ins case was reported on July 1 at Badlapur Police Station, triggering an investigation by the Crime Branch. Acting on specific information and technical surveillance, officers learned that a suspicious person was seen loitering near a closed company on Ulhasnagar Road. A team was immediately dispatched, and a trap was laid at the location. Jadhav was detained and subsequently arrested on July 3.
During the arrest and search his residence, police recovered stolen items worth over ₹19 lakh, including 189.17 grams of gold ornaments worth ₹15 lakh, silver worth ₹10,000, two laptops valued at ₹50,000, two mobile phones, and ₹3.28 lakh in cash.
In the preliminary interrogation, Jadhav confessed to using a specific modus operandi: he would target flats on the fourth and fifth floors, use tools to break open the doors, and flee with valuables during the day. Police confirmed that seven house-breaking cases were registered at Badlapur West Police Station and one at Shivaji Nagar Police Station.
DCP Amarsingh Jadhav of the Thane Crime Branch said, “The accused would recce buildings during the day and commit thefts on upper floors, assuming they would be less monitored. He used specialized tools to break in and steal valuables before quickly."
The accused was produced in court where he was remanded into police custody for further investigation into this matter.
