Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed his deep gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Union Cabinet’s approval of the Pune Metro Phase-2 extension. The announcement marks a major milestone in Pune’s ongoing urban development and transport expansion.
The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Modi, approved the extension of Line 2A and Line 2B of the Pune Metro project. Line 2A will run from Vanaz to Chandni Chowk, and the other line 2B will connect Ramwadi to Wagholi/Vitthalwadi.
In addition to this, the Cabinet has also approved the extension of Pune Metro Phase-1, from Vanaz to Ramwadi, further strengthening intra-city connectivity. Sharing the news on social media platform X, Chief Minister Fadnavis wrote:
“A milestone moment for Pune’s growth journey! Gratitude to Hon PM Narendra Modi Ji for approving the extension of Pune Metro Phase-2 in the Union Cabinet.” He also highlighted that this extension will significantly improve connectivity across important areas such as Chandni Chowk, Bavdhan, Kothrud, Kharadi, and Wagholi.
The total route length of the approved extension is 12.75 km, and the project is expected to cost around Rs 3,626.24 crore. The target completion time is 4 years. The funding for the project will come from a combination of sources, including the Central Government, the State Government, and financial institutions.
The decision demonstrates the central government’s continued support for Maharashtra’s infrastructure growth and urban transformation. The Pune Metro expansion is expected to ease traffic congestion and will be beneficial for the daily commuters in the city.

Her participation played a role in achieving a Guinness World Record for the highest number of marathon finishers in a single event.
The TCS London Marathon, held on April 27, 2025, witnessed a record-breaking performance, with 56,640 out of 57,449 participants successfully completing the race. This feat officially set a new Guinness World Record for the largest number of finishers in any marathon worldwide. Among these finishers was Priti Shah, whose achievement brought pride to both Maharashtra and India through her contribution to this event.
