Mumbai: The Railway has decided to short-terminate three major Konkan route trains at Thane and Dadar stations up to April 30. This is due to ongoing infrastructure work at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT).

In a recent statement, Konkan Railway officials confirmed that three trains will continue to be short-terminated at Thane and Dadar stations until April 30.

Train No. 12134, Mangaluru Junction – Mumbai CSMT Express, will now terminate at Thane station instead of CSMT until April 30.

Train No. 22120, Madgaon Junction – Mumbai CSMT Tejas Express, will terminate at Dadar station until April 30.

Train No. 12052, Madgaon Junction – Mumbai CSMT Janshatabdi Express, will also terminate at Dadar station until April 30.

Passengers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and make necessary arrangements for local transport from the respective stations.

Railway authorities have requested the cooperation and understanding of commuters. They explained that the platform extension is being carried out to enhance capacity and improve services in the long run.

Konkan Vikas Samiti Urges Special Direct Train from CSMT/Dadar to Chiplun to Ease Holiday Travel Rush

With the summer vacation season in full swing, passenger traffic to the Konkan region has surged, leading to packed trains and difficulty in securing reservations. In light of this, the Konkan Vikas Samiti has appealed to Indian Railways for the introduction of a special direct train from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) or Dadar to Chiplun to cater to the rising demand.

Currently, most special trains are designed to serve long-distance travelers heading toward Goa and Sindhudurg. However, passengers bound for towns and cities in the Raigad and Ratnagiri districts — including Roha, Mangaon, Mahad, Khed, and Pen — are struggling to find seats due to the overwhelming rush.

While a Panvel–Chiplun special train has been introduced to partially address the demand, Konkan Vikas Samiti argues that it falls short of meeting the needs of a large section of travelers from Mumbai, Thane, and the extended metropolitan area.

"For passengers from areas like Lalbaug, Parel, Girgaon, Mahim, Worli, Andheri, Borivali, Ghatkopar, Bhandup, Thane, Kalyan, Ambernath, Badlapur, Virar, Vasai, and Nalasopara, traveling to Panvel itself is a major hassle," the Samiti said in a statement.
