New Delhi: In a rare moment of political camaraderie, leaders across party lines gathered at Hotel Lalit in New Delhi on Tuesday evening to attend the wedding reception of Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra and former Biju Janata Dal MP Pinaki Misra. The event, held more than two months after their private wedding in Germany on May 30, was marked by warm wishes, inside photos and candid moments among political heavyweights.
Moitra looked radiant in a traditional red saree with golden embroidery, paired with gold jewellery, while Misra wore a white ethnic outfit with a red embroidered border. The couple were seen greeting guests, posing for photographs, and receiving blessings from friends and colleagues.
Prominent among the guests was Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, who was seen seated with Rajya Sabha MP Ranjeet Ranjan during the dinner. Nationalist Congress Party MP Supriya Sule took to social media to post her wishes: “Congratulations, Mahua (@MahuaMoitra) and Pinaki! Wishing you a beautiful journey ahead filled with joy and happiness!” Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi also shared a picture from the reception and wrote, “To Mahua & Pinaki, Wishing the best always!”
Several other MPs and political figures shared glimpses from the evening. Trinamool MP and Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha Sagarika Ghose posted, “Wishing beautiful bride @MahuaMoitra and Pinaki Misra every happiness at their lovely reception this evening.”
Actor-politician and TMC MP Rachna Banerjee shared her wishes on Instagram, writing, “Good wishes for the years to come... Stay happy.” Trinamool’s Saayoni Ghosh also joined in, posting, “Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness, love and laughter!”
Former Congress MP Kunwar Danish Ali described the evening as one of “conversations, camaraderie, and celebration,” posting photos with several leaders including Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Telangana CM Revanth Reddy, and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann.
DMK MPs Dr T Sumathy alias Thamizhachi and Thangapandian also marked their presence at the high-profile gathering.
Mahua Moitra is a two-time MP from Krishnanagar, West Bengal, known for her powerful speeches in Parliament. Pinaki Misra, a senior advocate and an alumnus of St Stephen’s College and Delhi University, previously represented Odisha’s Puri constituency.
