IndiGo commenced its second long-haul flight between Mumbai and Amsterdam a day after it launched its first long-haul from Mumbai to Manchester. The airline will operate three flights every week on the new route with leased Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.

Mumbai: IndiGo commenced its second long-haul flight between Mumbai and Amsterdam a day after it launched its first long-haul from Mumbai to Manchester. The airline will operate three flights every week on the new route with leased Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.

India’s largest airline IndiGo, according to market share, marked another milestone in its international expansion journey with the launch of direct flights between Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) and Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport.

This is the airline’s second long-haul route, following the successful introduction of services to Manchester on Tuesday. The flight no. 6E-0021 will depart from Mumbai on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 5.20am and reach Amsterdam at 11am. The return flight will depart from Amsterdam at 2pm and reach Mumbai at 2.25am.

The new Mumbai–Amsterdam service will operate thrice weekly with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, damp-leased from Norse Atlantic Airways. Schiphol airport is one of the world’s busiest airports and a key European hub.

According to IndiGo, customers flying to and from Amsterdam can seamlessly connect to the entire Europe, North America and Canada; and on IndiGo’s domestic network of over 90 destinations within India.

Pieter Elbers, chief executive officer of IndiGo, said, “We are committed to delivering a seamless and enhanced experience to our customers at great value, promoting direct traffic between India and Europe. This route will not only enhance connectivity for leisure, business, and student travellers, but also deepen the thriving partnership between India and the Netherlands culturally, economically, and diplomatically.”

The Dreamliner aircraft will feature 56 IndiGoStretch seats in a comfortable 2x3x2 configuration, with 43-inch seat pitch. The economy class will offer 282 seats in a 3x3x3 configuration, offering a generous 31-inch seat pitch for a comfortable travel experience.

All seats feature seatback screens for in- flight entertainment with around 300 hours of entertainment with movies and TV shows across various genres. Celebrating India and its unique cuisines, the airline has specially curated complimentary hot meals and beverages in collaboration with iconic home-grown Indian brands, for all its customers.
