Mumbai: The Mumbai Crime Branch has uncovered another significant revelation in the case involving Bilal Ahmad Faiyaz Ahmad Teli, who allegedly infiltrated the prestigious IIT Powai campus. According to sources, the accused first entered the IIT premises on June 2 by bypassing security at the main gate. Shockingly, none of the guards stationed at the entrance stopped or questioned him.

Investigators have learned that between June 2 and June 7, the accused not only wandered across the campus but also examined every gate within the institute. His apparent motive was to identify an easy route for re-entry and exit. A Crime Branch officer revealed that during this period, Teli frequently accessed the campus through the rear gate facing Powai Lake without being detected, raising serious concerns about the institute's internal security protocol.

Further findings show that during his initial stay, Teli realized the Powai Lake-side gate was the least monitored entry point. Exploiting this lapse, he re-entered the IIT campus on June 10 through the same gate and remained inside until June 17. Once again, no security personnel noticed his presence.

The accused’s presence was finally detected on June 17 when Professor Shilpa Kotikkal recognized him from a previous encounter and immediately alerted the security team. He was then apprehended and handed over to authorities. The Mumbai Crime Branch has seized multiple CCTV recordings from the premises, which serve as critical evidence in the ongoing investigation. Sources confirm that the probe has uncovered several flaws in IIT Powai’s campus security. These findings have been shared with the institute's management. The investigation remains ongoing.
