Mumbai: In a tragic incident on July 12, a 29-year-old man from Girgaon, Vinay Jadhav, lost his life in a hit-and-run accident on the Panvel-bound lane of the Sion-Panvel Highway. The mishap occurred on the LP flyover in Nerul while Vinay was riding his motorcycle towards Alibag with a group of friends for a picnic.
Vinay, who worked at a private firm in Vikhroli, had headed directly from his office to join the trip. He sustained fatal head injuries after being run over by the left rear wheel of a dumper that was moving in the same direction. He was immediately taken to D Y Patil Hospital, where doctors declared him dead, as reported by the Times of India.

His father, Prakash Jadhav (59), told the police that Vinay had called his mother before leaving, asking her to send some clothes through his friends. Prakash rushed to the accident site after a neighbour informed him and met Vinay’s friend, Sagar Todankar, who explained what had happened.
According to the report, "I don't know how many of his friends were heading towards Alibag for the picnic. Also, no further update has been received from the police after the mishap." The Nerul police have booked the dumper driver, Suaraj Chaurasia (24), a resident of Ulwe, under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). He has since been released on bail.
