The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has launched a large-scale workshop for school students to raise awareness about eco-friendly Ganeshotsav under the “Harit Bappa/Faleet Bappa” initiative. The aim is to promote the use of Shadu clay idols during the upcoming Ganesh festival across the KDMC region.

Workshop to Engage 4,000 Students in Traditional Art and Environmental Awareness

According to civic officials, the initiative is being implemented in collaboration with the Education Today Foundation. The workshop is scheduled to be held on August 12 at the Surendra Vajpayee Auditorium, located within the Savalaram Maharaj Sports Complex, Dombivli East. Around 4,000 school students are expected to participate in the workshop, which will be conducted in two sessions.

Rohini Lokre, Project Head of the initiative, said that students will gain hands-on experience in traditional art forms, cultural values, and environmental conservation. The idols will be made using Shadu clay and natural colors, encouraging sustainable practices.

Through this initiative, the KDMC aims to spread the message of eco-friendly Ganeshotsav not just among students, but also to their parents and teachers. The Municipal Corporation will provide the Shadu clay required for idol-making.
