Faith leaders gathered at the interfaith prayer meeting on Friday, organised by the Inter-Religious Solidarity Council, at the Baha'i Centre, New Marine Lines, to pay tributes to the victims of the May 2 terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir.
The delegates from Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, Zoroastrianism, Jainism, Ahmadiyya, Baha'i, and Sikhism, in a unified expression of grief, prayed for justice for the victims and hoped that those involved in the attack would be brought to justice.
The faith leaders condemned the senseless violence that claimed innocent lives and expressed deep concern over the wave of retaliatory attacks and hostile sentiments directed toward the Muslim community in its aftermath.
The leaders said that families of the victims shared accounts of how local Kashmiris, irrespective of their religion, rushed to help, offering shelter and comfort during the chaos.
They reaffirmed that no religion condones hatred or violence, and that the core teachings of all faiths are rooted in compassion, justice, and respect for all life.
Among those present were Sadguru Dr Yogiraj Mangeshda from Kriya Yoga Foundation; Sister Anjuben from the Brahma Kumaris organisation; Prabhu Braj Mohan Das from ISKCON; Allame Bunai Hasani of All India Ulema Board; Dr Salim Khan; Bishop Ravi Kumar Stephen G and Pastor Devendra Tribhuvan from Christian Development Association; Iqbal Singh Gill and Ranjit Singh Vohra from Shri Guru Singh Sabha, Dadar; Ervad Cyrus Darbari and Ervad Panthaky from the Zoroastrian faith; Naim Hamadani representing the Baha'is; Sheikh Nasir of Ahmadiyya Community, and Irfan Engineer of IRSC.
