Navi Mumbai: In a significant step toward enhancing the welfare of elderly Malayalis across Maharashtra, the Federation of All India Marunadan Malayali Associations (FAIMA) has officially launched the FAIMA Maharashtra Malayali Senior Citizen Club. This dedicated platform aims to address growing concerns of neglect and social isolation faced by senior citizens within the community across all 36 districts of the state.
The initiative is backed by the University of the Third Age (U3A) program, being introduced in India for the first time under the auspices of Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala. The U3A initiative focuses on empowering senior citizens through structured, lifelong learning and social engagement, promoting active ageing and wellbeing.
To ensure effective execution of welfare programs under this initiative, FAIMA Maharashtra has constituted a Senior Citizen Club Committee with zonal representation. The following officials have been appointed to lead the efforts:

The official launch ceremony was presided over by FAIMA Maharashtra Working President Jayaprakash Nair. Chief Coordinator T.G. Suresh Kumar welcomed the attendees, followed by the unveiling of the club’s operational framework by General Secretary P.P. Ashokan. FAIMA Maharashtra Malayali Welfare Cell President Unni V. George extended his best wishes. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Treasurer Anu B. Nair.
The launch of the Senior Citizen Club marks a major milestone in FAIMA's ongoing efforts to foster community-based care and support for Malayali elders in Maharashtra.
