The Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Knowledge Center in Kalyan East was inaugurated by Industries Minister Uday Samant and Minister of Social Justice Sanjay Shirsath on Sunday. However, the centre opened to the public on April 14.
About The Centre
The centre, built by Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation near its D ward office, cost Rs 16.70 crore, Rs 9 crore of which was received from the state government, and the municipal corporation bore the rest of the expenses.

According to civic officials, the knowledge centre showcases Dr Ambedkar’s contributions to social justice, his role in the drafting of the Indian Constitution, and his life journey as shown by multimedia displays. A special film and 3D holography show about Dr Ambedkar’s journey was also displayed.
“This center aims to raise awareness about the struggle and life of Dr Ambedkar. People can easily and interactively gain knowledge about his life,” said MP Shrikant Shinde. Shirsath said that 125 hostels for children belonging to lower classes will be set up in the state, and 25,000 students will be able to get admission.
