COVID-19: Maharashtra vaccination tally crosses 2.64 crore on June 16

In the ongoing vaccination drive, Maharashtra on June 15 has vaccinated 2,47,663 people through 3175 centres.

According to data released by the government, Maharashtra, as of 7 am on June 16, inoculated 2,64,79,757 people.

As per the state government data, 28,01,117 individuals aged between 18 and 44 years received the vaccine doses in the state till Wednesday since the inoculation drive for this age group began on May 1.

So far, 12,32,900 health care workers have been administered the first dose of the vaccine, while 7,97,201 of them have got their second dose.

Similarly, 19,97,625 frontline workers in the state have till now received their first vaccine dose and of them, 8,38,435 got their second dose.

Maharashtra tops the states with a total of 2,64,79,757 inoculations followed by Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, with 2,38,29,486, 2,08,30,209 and 1,99,81,201 doses respectively.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra on Tuesday reported 9,350 new coronavirus cases, up from 8,129 a day ago, taking its tally to 59,24,773, while 388 more deaths pushed the toll to 1,14,154, the state health department said.

As many as 15,176 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, taking the number of recovered cases to 56,69,179, a statement from the health department said. The state now has 1,38,361 active cases.

The statement said 2,02,638 more people were tested for coronavirus, taking the number of samples examined so far in the state to 3,84,18,130. The state's COVID-19 recovery rate is 95.69 per cent, while the case fatality rate is 1.93 per cent, it said.
