Mumbai: A 40-year-old woman, Bipasha Kumar, a Bombay Scottish school teacher who was held under the POCSO act for allegedly repeatedly sexually assaulting a minor male student for two years, the special POCSO court has granted bail to teacher booked for allegedly sexually assaulting minor student.

The Bombay Scottish teacher had requested for bail claiming in her bail application that the teen student had expressed his love for her in multiple conversations and also used to address her as his wife. The teacher stated that the case was fabricated at the behest of the boy's mother, who was opposed to the idea of her son being in love with her.

Citing several conversations with the boy, the woman's plea claimed his parents knew of his love for the accused and were against it. His conduct towards her and deep feelings for her have been deliberately suppressed in the FIR, the accused's plea stated.

At various places in the communication, it can be seen that he had nicknamed her in terms of endearments and even called her his wife, the plea said. In these communications, he repeatedly expressed his affection, emotional dependency and his desire to meet her and be with her.

About The Case

A teenager's parents filed a police complaint after their son became close to a teacher during school cultural preparations in December 2023. The teacher allegedly made sexual advances the following month and coerced him into encounters at luxury hotels, often getting him drunk and administering anti-anxiety medication.

She reportedly used a female colleague to persuade the boy to meet her. Despite the boy leaving school after his board exams, the teacher continued contacting him, including through her household staff.

The parents noticed behavioral changes in their son and initially hesitated to report the crime, hoping for a quiet resolution. However, after the teacher attempted to reconnect, they approached authorities. The woman is charged under the POCSO Act and related laws, and currently remains in judicial custody.
