Mumbai: The Bombay High Court has mandated that the police must digitize the case diary, station diary, and logbook at the police station daily. Case diaries, station logs, and record books are consistently managed in police departments. They must be converted to a digital format.
Consequently, if the digitization of these documents has not yet begun, the court has instructed the police to initiate it. Justice Ravindra Ghuge and Justice Gautam Ankhad have directed the state government and the Director General of Police to provide comprehensive details in the affidavit regarding the specific measures that will be taken to upgrade the CCTV and other amenities at the police station.

The subsequent hearing regarding this matter is scheduled for August 14, 2025. Maintain the CCTV operation Ensure that all CCTVs in every police station are functioning continuously. Keep it punctual. Consistently refresh this system. Select an appropriate pump for this. The court has instructed the Director General of Police to adhere to the guidelines provided by the Supreme Court on this matter.
The bench inquired about which officer would be accountable if the CCTV in the police station is turned off during a crucial moment or if there are protocols for the handling and upkeep of CCTVs. The state government informed the court that no such guidelines exist. The court conveyed significant disapproval regarding this.
